Laboratory Sciences is a branch of Medical Sciences allied with Laboratory analysis of blood liquids and human body tissues in order for diagnosis, tracking and prevention of the diseases and ensuring the health of public.
The main mission of this major is to train students, who are able to work in the clinical laboratories of hospitals and health care centers, and perform different experiments on the human tissues, blood, or other liquids using advanced electronic devices and methods.
Information gained from these experiments helps the physicians in the process of diagnosis of diseases, treatment and public health protection. Since this major is changing and developing day by day, graduates must be trained in a way that would make them able to adjust themselves with the latest knowledge and technology.
Length and Structure
The average length of bachelor program in laboratory sciences is 4 years and is based according to the bylaws of educational structure of associate-degree, non-continuous and continuous program in bachelor’s degree, which has been approved by the supreme council of medical education planning.
Units
General courses: 22 credits
Basic sciences: 31 credits
Excusive courses: 61 units
Clinical Internship: 16 credits
